Why ControlBox?

From classic automation to ready macros

Reduce time-consuming steps in field projects; I/O, communication, and automation logic together in one device.

Traditional approach

  • PLC programming and ladder/ST knowledge required
  • Long commissioning time per project
  • Separate I/O module, communication card, and software license
  • Engineering cost even for simple pump or fan control
  • Software update required for field changes

ControlBox approach

  • Ready macro library — select, enter parameters, run
  • Pump, fan, door, and level scenarios in minutes
  • 8 digital + analog + NTC inputs, 7 NPN or relay outputs + WiFi + Bluetooth + RS485 in one unit
  • Fast on-site configuration via web and mobile access
  • Integration with existing SCADA and monitoring systems via Modbus RTU

How does it work?

Three steps from field to automation

ControlBox simplifies the process from setup to monitoring. No programming environment or compile step is required.

  1. Make the connections

Connect sensors and switches to digital inputs; connect a 0-10V or 0-20mA sensor to the analog channel; connect the NTC thermistor to the temperature input. Connect servo/step drivers to NPN outputs or actuators to relay stage.

  2. Select and configure a macro

Connect to the device via WiFi, Bluetooth, or web interface. Configure the analog channel mode (0-10V / 0-20mA) and the NTC temperature input. Select a level, HVAC, door, or conveyor macro and set the parameters.

  3. Monitor and integrate

Track operating status from mobile or web panel. Exchange data with energy monitoring, SCADA, or upper systems via Modbus RTU.

  • NTC temperature sensor input — direct thermistor connection
  • 7 NPN or relay outputs — drive servo and step motors with NPN
  • WiFi and Bluetooth wireless access — local network and field configuration
  • RS485 Modbus RTU — master/slave field network support
  • Web interface — parameter and status management from browser

Frequently asked questions

What people ask

Does ControlBox require programming?

No. ControlBox provides ready-made macros for automation scenarios commonly used in industrial fields. With a select-and-use approach, pump, fan, door, level, and temperature control can be commissioned within minutes.

Which connection protocols does ControlBox support?

WiFi, Bluetooth, RS485 Modbus RTU, OBIS meter reading, DLMS/COSEM, M-Bus, and MQTT are supported. Modbus and OBIS data can be used for integration with SCADA and energy monitoring systems.

How many inputs and outputs does ControlBox provide?

It includes 8 opto-isolated digital inputs, 1 analog input channel (selectable 0-10V or 0-20mA), an NTC temperature sensor input, and 7 NPN or relay outputs.

How is the NTC temperature sensor connected?

The NTC thermistor is connected directly to the ControlBox temperature sensor input. No separate 0-10V transmitter or 0-20mA converter is required. In HVAC macros, temperature threshold, hysteresis, and alarm parameters are adjusted via web or Bluetooth.

Is analog input 0-10V or 0-20mA?

ControlBox has a single analog input channel. Depending on the connected sensor type, the same channel is selected as 0-10V voltage or 0-20mA current mode; both modes cannot be used simultaneously. Selection is made via web interface or Bluetooth.

Are outputs relay or NPN?

The ControlBox output stage can be configured as NPN transistor or relay according to project needs. NPN output is used for fast switching circuits and driving servo/step motors; relay output is suitable for dry-contact and higher-current loads.

Can a servo or step motor be driven with NPN output?

Yes. The NPN output stage can generate pulse/step signals to control servo and step motor drivers. It can be commissioned together with the macro library in motion-control scenarios such as conveyors, doors, and positioning.

What is the difference between ControlBox and PLC?

ControlBox provides a ready macro library instead of classic PLC programming. It enables rapid setup for common field scenarios and can integrate with existing field networks via Modbus RTU.

Can I request a demo or quote?

Yes. You can submit a demo request using the contact form below or contact T3 Software directly.

What are Modbus RTU master and slave modes?

In master mode, ControlBox can read downstream devices on the RS485 line such as meters and sensors. In slave mode, the upper system (SCADA, PLC, or monitoring software) can read/write ControlBox registers.

Can WiFi and Bluetooth be used at the same time?

Both wireless channels can be used for configuration and monitoring. Bluetooth is suitable for fast initial on-site setup; WiFi is suitable for local network and remote access.

Which macros are included out of the box?

Level and pump, temperature/HVAC, door and barrier, conveyor and counter, step/servo motor, RS485 field network, and mobile monitoring scenarios are included in the macro library. Industrial examples such as booster pump, cold room, tank filling, well pump, compressor, and energy meter integration can be applied directly.

Can ControlBox read electricity meters via OBIS?

Yes. Over the RS485 line, active/reactive energy, instantaneous power, and phase data can be read from IEC 62056-compliant meters using OBIS data codes. The data is used in energy monitoring, consumption reporting, and threshold-based automation macros.

Is ControlBox suitable for complex process control?

ControlBox is designed for standard digital I/O-based automation scenarios. For projects requiring PID loops, analog control, or multi-step process logic, a classic PLC should be preferred.

Does it work with energy monitoring systems?

Yes. It can communicate with energy meters and field sensors via RS485 Modbus RTU. It can be used together with the T3 Software Energy Management platform.
